Case Study

Chelsea FC

We were commissioned by Chelsea Football Club to explore
the options of a temporary fan based structure, cited externally
within the stadium concourse. The brief was simple; create
something amazing for our fans and sponsors that can be
transported when we decant to the new stadium.

We were engaged along with White Circle, UK leading
specialists in the manufacture of bespoke shipping container
structures to develop proposals for a completely transportable
building. We worked with the club and White Circle to develop
proposals based on 40’ containers, bolted together and stacked
to create a first floor to create a ground floor fan activation zone
and a corporate hospitality area at first floor for VIP’s.

The design language for each distinct space reflected the
use within. The ground floor used rough concrete floors, steel
and bold graphics as the backdrop for a merchandise and fan
led experience, whilst the first floor was finished in luxurious
materials, accentuated with bespoke feature lighting,
interactive LED display walls and a cantilevered, glass
floored balcony looking out onto the stadium concourse.
The design philosophy was based on the containers
being fabricated and fitted out off site, transport to the
ground, quickly erected and connected to the services.
With the clubs proposals to redevelop Stamford Bridge
into a £1bn mixed use stadium complex the containers
will decant to Chelsea’s temporary home, they will enjoy
a new location before being brought back for the
opening of the new stadium.
